To enable students and researchers at both institutes to pursue joint research projects

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-GN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster unique academic and research collaborations.

The partnership will enable students and researchers at both institutes to pursue joint research projects in areas of mutual interest, organise joint symposia and workshops, and access infrastructure and lab facilities at both institutions. The collaboration will also foster student exchange from IIT-GN to IISc for academic and research programmes.

Crucially, the partnership will enable students who completed their third year BTech at IIT-GN to join IISc directly for their Master’s degree after a competitive selection process. Students successfully completing their course requirements will receive their BTech and MTech degrees from IIT-GN and IISc respectively.

Through this unique academic exchange model, the partnership seeks to leverage the academic and research strengths of the two premier institutions and enable students to benefit from diverse learning experiences. IISc hopes to establish similar partnerships with other IITs in the near future.
