Over 150 volunteers from IPCA initiate Swachh Bharat Drive within Amity Campus

Cleanliness drive was organized on the run-up to the 70th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) which will be held from December 21 to 23 at Amity University.

Braving the cold weather outside, over 150 enthusiastic student volunteers of the Indian Pharmaceutical Congress Association (IPCA) took to streets and within Amity University campus on a Swachh Bharat cleanliness drive.

 Armed by brooms and dust pans and stressing on the importance of hygiene and cleanliness through play card messages, the drive was conducted a day before the hosting of the largest congregation of pharmacists and pharmaceutical professional in India, as the 70th edition of the Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) will be held at the university from December 21st to 23rd.

 B. R. Sikri, Chairman Local Organizing Committee, 70th IPC, and Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Chief Patron, 70th IPC led the group of students who in a matter of few hours cleaned the campus and surrounding area.

 “Cleanliness and hygiene factors are extremely important values for the pharmaceutical industry, given the fact that it is the high standards of hygiene that are a prerequisite for functioning in pharmaceutical lab and manufacturing. Therefore we have a much greater realization and appreciation for cleanliness. The students’ body that’s engaged with the activity is the Indian Pharmacy Graduates’ Association (IPGA) which is also the body hosting the event.”. said Mr. B. R. Sikri, Chairman Local Organizing Committee, 70th IPC.

Held with the theme of Pharma Vision 2030: Indian Pharma Industry, a Global Leader, the 70th IPC will be inaugurated by the Vice-President of India, Shri Venkaiah Naidu, and presided by President of 70th IPC and Managing Director of Sun Pharma Dilip Shanghvi on December 21st. The congress will discuss various challenges on including need for implementation of standard international level quality and hygiene parameters along with Good Manufacturing Practices across the pharma industry over the next three days.

The Indian pharmaceutical industry recorded registered sales of USD 36.7 billion in 2017, and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 22.4 per cent to reach USD 55 billion by 2020.

The Indian Pharmaceutical Congress Association (IPCA) is a federation of five professional pharmaceutical bodies, namely, Indian Pharmacy Graduates’ Association (IPGA) Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India (APTI), Indian Hospital Pharmacists’ Association (IHPA) and All India Drugs Control Officers’ Confederation (AIDCOC). This will be IPCA’s 70th consecutive edition of Indian Pharmaceutical Congress.
