With an aim of setting up a medical devices park on the premises of the Life Science Park being developed by the KSIDC at Thonnakal, The Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST) and the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This park is Rs 180-crore project and expected to be set up with financial assistance from the State and the Centre. It will focus on the high-risk medical device sector involving medical implants and extracorporeal devices, a domain in which SCTIMST has expertise and experience

Creating an environment for research and development of medical devices, testing and evaluation of medical devices and biomaterials, manufacturing support, technology innovation and knowledge dissemination is the main objective of the park.
