NITI Aayog has announced the appointment of Anurag Jain as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Jain, a 1989-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, brings with him nearly four decades of experience in public administration and policymaking.
He has previously served as Chief Secretary, Madhya Pradesh; Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways; and Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
His tenure will run until his approved extension in service and thereafter for a total period of two years, or until further orders.
Notably, his extended tenure as Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh was scheduled to conclude on August 31, 2026.
NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) is the premier policy think tank of the Government of India, established to foster cooperative federalism and provide strategic and technical advice on key policy matters.
It aims to rapidly transform 112 of India's most under-developed districts by monitoring progress across health, nutrition, education, agriculture, financial inclusion, and infrastructure.
