John Shaw was 73 years old
John Shaw, Vice Chairman of Biocon and husband of Kiran Mazumdar, Founder and Executive Chairperson of Biocon, passed away on 24th October. He was undergoing treatment for cancer in Bengaluru.
John had been with Biocon since 1999. He played an important role in the Corporate Governance of the company. He also played a key role in the financial and strategic development of the group. John was a member of the Biocon board and the company’s key management team.
He worked for over 30 years with Coats Viyella plc. He served in financial and General Management positions in Latin America, Africa, and Europe.
He was Chairman of Madura Coats Ltd from 1991-98. He completed his M.A. (Hons.) in History and Political Economy at Glasgow University in 1970. John was educated at Glasgow High School. He was an avid art lover and in his spare time enjoyed golf, football, rugby and cricket.
