Dr. K M Cherian, Chairman and CEO of Frontier Lifeline Hospital was felicitated with the prestigious Dr. B.C.Roy Memorial Award during the scientific session of 70^th CSI Annual Conference 2018 held at   MMRDA grounds, Bandra – Kurla Complex, Mumbai, recently. President of CSI, Dr. K Sarat Chanda inaugurated the event and felicitated Dr. K M Cherian with Dr. B C Memorial Award.

In recognition of the contributions made by Dr. K M Cherian towards the field of paediatric Surgery (the first coronary artery bypass surgery,  Heart, Heart & Lung Transplant, Introduction of transmyocardiacl laser revascularization (TMLR), homograft etc.) the highest recognition for medical practitioners invaluable in India, he was honoured with this prestigious award.  The award was citation, gold medal and Rs. 1 lakh.

Dr. K M Cherian had previously won the Padma Shri too. Having received the award, Dr. K M Cherian, Chairman and CEO of Frontier Lifeline Hospital said“ Dr. B.C. Roy National Award is a national honour bestowed upon eminent doctors of the nation, which is considered as a highest recognition in the medical domain and I am grateful to lord almighty for being chosen for this coveted award. Further adding he said “The number of patients regarding the heart disease is increasing in our country but we have very less doctors for treatment. I would request our government to take more initiative to produce more doctors”.  During the award ceremony, Dr. Cherian also made a request for Govt  to support for encouraging Basic Medical Science in the country to make Medical Care affordable as well as MAKE IN INDIA ambition successful.
