Effective June 1, 2018, Jawed Zia joins Abbott as Vice President, Established Pharmaceuticals, India. In this role, Jawed will lead Abbott’s India pharmaceutical business, which offers quality, trusted medicines to help people get and stay healthy.
With his extensive knowledge of the Indian pharmaceutical market and his vast strategic and operational experience, Jawed will be responsible for Abbott’s continued growth and leadership in the country.
Jawed joins Abbott from Novartis where he was the Pharma Division Head of Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Country President.
Over the last 25 years of his career, Jawed has been in various leadership roles with Novartis, working in its pharma and ophthalmic businesses, as well as being part of many integration projects. He has had the opportunity to work in several countries including Singapore, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
Abbott has been in India since 1910, offering products and solutions in nutrition, diagnostics, medical devices and pharmaceuticals. With two production sites and a new Innovation and Development Centre for its pharmaceutical business, the company has over 12,000 employees in the country.
