The Institute considers stalwarts in academics and industry for this chair professorship

The Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) has joined hands with Rajesh Mashruwala, Executive VP, TIBCO Software and one of the Co-founders of the Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE), IIT Hyderabad, to announce the CfHE Vagbhata Chair Professorship in medical devices and diagnostics.
With this Chair Professorship, Mashruwala aims to translate healthcare ideas like non-invasive diagnostics, point of care devices, and clinical trials of portable devices to address the last mile in healthcare delivery to rural India in medical devices and diagnostics.
Prof BS Murty, Director, IITH, said, “This Chair Professorship will be a golden opportunity for bringing eminent National and International faculty and industry leaders to collaborate with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at IITH with a focussed vision to strengthen this area, develop new courses and programmes, and attract new faculty, visiting faculty, international grants, etc.”
The support from the institute will cover the activities related to academics, travel, research, honorariums, and other expenses for the chair professor to visit IIT Hyderabad and engage in research and teaching activities. The term of a Chair Professor will be renewed on an annual basis for three years.
