Raid exposed a staggering array of illegally stocked medicines, including antibiotics, anti-ulcer drugs, etc.

In a relentless pursuit of enforcing the Drugs and Cosmetic Act regulations 1940 and the Pharmacy Act 1948 and Practice regulations 2015 in Telangana, the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) officials conducted raids on unauthorised clinics in Ranga Reddy and Warangal districts.

The crackdown resulted in the confiscation of a substantial cache of medicines and antibiotics, valued in lakhs of rupees, stocked without any proper licenses.

On January 23, 2024, acting on credible information, DCA officials from the Serilingampally Zone targeted the premises of a self-proclaimed 'Private Medical Practitioner,' Rahul Kumar Sharma, operating from Anvish Clinic in Narsingi village, Gandipet, Rangareddy District.

The raid exposed a staggering array of illegally stocked medicines, including antibiotics, anti-ulcer drugs, painkillers, anti-tussive drugs, and multivitamins. The seized stock was estimated to be worth Rs five lakh.

In a separate operation, DCA officials in Warangal raided the premises of T. Rajender, practicing medicine without qualification at his First-Aid clinic in Khila Warangal village. The unlicensed clinic was found to be stocking and selling medicines without the required drug license. The officials confiscated forty varieties of medicines, including seven labeled as 'Physician Samples,' amounting to a total worth of Rs eighty thousand.

The raids revealed the presence of several 'antibiotic medicines' at the clinics, raising concerns about the indiscriminate sale of antibiotics by unqualified individuals. Samples have been collected for analysis, and further investigations will be conducted to take legal action against the offenders.
