Karnataka Govt to strengthen academic and healthcare sectors

Bengaluru Tech Summit 2019 (BTS), being organised by the Dept. of IT & BT, Government of Karnataka (GoK) with the theme Innovation and Impact 2.0, will be opening at Bengaluru Palace on 18th November, till 20th November at the Bengaluru Palace.

At the curtain raiser of the event held in Bengaluru, Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, Deputy Chief Minister, and Minister for IT, BT and S&T, GoK,  highlighted, "The industry is doing a tremendous job in the IT and BT sector. But the academic sector is lagging behind and it requires to be strengthened. The Karanataka Govt is working in this direction and will soon develop a system where all the challenges facing the education and academic sector can be addressed. At the same time, the government will also strengthen the healthcare sector. A lot needs to be done in this regard."

The minister also announced the launch of an upcoming IT policy in 2019. Talking about the major highlights of the upcoming BTS 2019 event, he said, "At BTS we will be announcing specific regulatory measures to enhance innovation in Bengaluru and the rest of the state. We are currently in the process of engaging with various stakeholders to design the regulatory relaxations. In addition, at BTS, the govt will also announce a mechanism for startups to interact with the govt and the industry for proactive decision making."

The summit is expected to see the particpation of 20 countries with over 250 speakers, providing a platform for discussion and deliberation to encourage disruptive technologies in the form of four major track sessions: Smart IT, Smart Bio, Global Innovation Alliances (GIA) and Impact. 

The conference at the summit focuses on a multitude of frontier technologies ranging from Blockchain, AI, ML & Robotics, Intelligent Apps and Analytics, Immersive Experience (AR/VR), IOT, Telecom, Cyber Security, BioPharma, BioAgri, BioIT, BioIndustrial and BioServices.
