BBC launches more products to fight COVID-19

Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC) under the aegis of Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS), Department of Electronics, IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka has launching innovative products, to fight COVID 19 pandemic.

The products were launched by Ashwath Narayana, Deputy Chief Minister, IT, BT and S&T recently through an online platform.  

Padma Vitals +: Developed  by Dr Madan Gopal of Cardiac Design labs is a  centralized monitoring system for ECG, respiration, Spo2 and body temperature which can measure the vitals continuously and analysis sent through telemetry. Alerting system is embedded. The device is much needed for contact less monitoring of patients during COVID 19 Pandemic. The product has been validated at Narayana Hrudayalaya.

Anti-Micobial HVAC module: The product is developed by Ravi Kumar from Biofi and is a module that can be fitted to HVAC system ensure circulating air is sanitized. This is especially useful during COVID 19 times as many enclosed spaces in which AC circulated air may be contaminated. Based UV-silver titanium dioxide technology, the product is patented and has been validated.

Dr Jitendra Kumar, Managing Director, BBC said “It is heartening to see that the start ups have come up with the products in short time and this demonstrates that the Incubation, facilitation, funding and ecosystem building efforts by BBC which is generously supported by KITS, Department of Electronics, IT, Bt and S&T, Government of Karnataka is bearing fruits”. He also stated that BBC has launched a support platform for Innovators developing products for fighting against COVID 19 and that some more products for diagnosis and therapy are being developed at the centre.  

The occasion also saw signing of MoU between IIM, Bangalore and BBC. Signing the MoU on behalf of IIM, Bangalore, Prof K Kumar, Dean, IIM said that that expertise and capabilities of IIM in market analysis, scale up of businesses and help in access to venture capital including hand holding the start ups after they have done proof of concept studies at BBC would help the start ups to navigate through market forces and build them as Big businesses. MD, BBC hailed the signing of MoU as landmark in ecosystem building in Bangalore.
