Founder of earliest biotech association, Vivek Singhal is no more

Mr Vivek Singhal who was the president of Biotech International Limited will be also remembered for having started the first biotech association, All India Biotech Association (AIBA), a non-profit society registered in the early 1994. He has been on the governing council of Council for Scientific and Industrial Reserach (CSIR) under ministry of science and technology) and also the former chairman of Electronics & Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) and chairman of Federation of India Exports Organization (FIEO).

Late Mr Singhal had been on the board of directors of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a government of India undertaking and also on the Board of Directors of VSNL (a TATA Group of Companies). He has also been on the board of directors of Bharat Yantra Nigam Ltd. (a very large Public Sector Undertaking) and on the board of directors of Indian Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO).

He had been on the governing body of many institutes and a member on the board of management of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi.
