With an aim to accelerate research that will generate knowledge and develop technologies to provide the basis for dengue prevention and control, the department of biotechnology has invited the interests from concerned researchers across India. The proposals are invited from interested researchers in the domains such as establishment of dengue laboratory network programme with defined gene amplifications for understanding the genotypes, serotypes, strengthening regional laboratories for rapid and confirmatory diagnosis of suspected dengue cases.

Also, the researchers who can submit the proposals can include those involved in the development of integrated companion diagnostic tests (Ag/Ab) and new rapid point of care diagnostic test systems & validation, novel strategies for vaccine development, utilization of primary human cell targets to understand the translational data on platelet, monocytes, DCs, and endothelial cells by using stem cell technology, studies on pathogenic antibodies in dengue hemorrhagic fever: their generation, specificity, regulation, sero epidemiology etc and development of advanced research programme on platelet pathology and to study molecular markers of neurotropis and vector preference.

As per DBT, the multicentric proposals must highlight the purpose of collaboration that would add value to the research plan and outcomes. The full length proposals duly forwarded from competent authority should be submitted by researchers by June 20, 2013.
