Providing Enzyme Blends

Growing with the industry, Advanced Biochemicals has increased its sales by 32 percent during 2004-05

A dvanced Biochemicals has been growing along with industry, with growth rate of about 32 percent with sales of Rs 39.55 crore in 2004-05.

The annual sales of this ISO 9000 company have increased along with the net profit. It has sales turnover of Rs 39.55 crore for the year 2004-05 against Rs 30.07 crore in 2003-04. Being a leader in manufacturing and marketing of enzymes in India, it also exports to other countries. Its sales revenue from exports stood at Rs 6.48 crore (2004-05) against last year's sales of Rs 5.78 crore. It is now targeting to cross the three-digit figure for the year ending March 31, 2006. Its net profit too has increased from Rs 4.82 crore in 2003-04 to Rs 5.50 crore in 2004-05.

Advanced Biochemicals is now setting up a 100 percent export oriented unit and planning to invest over Rs. 110 crore at Indore SEZ. In this regard it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Madhya Pradesh. The new plant will manufacture Cellulase, Alkali Protease, Amylase, Catalase, Xylanase, Acid and Neutral Protease Enzymes.

Advanced Biochemicals's investment in manufacturing has been about US$12 million and it is further planning to spend over US $25 million in next five years. Besides manufacturing it also investing on R&D activities where a team of 35 researchers (with 8 PhDs) is working on developing newer products. And it has filed six patents but yet receive grant. Its investments on R&D are more than 5 percent of its sales. Its multi-disciplinary R& D team consists of microbiologists, biochemists, chemical engineers, food technologists, and biotechnologists with several years of experience with enzyme technology. Through continuous R&D, it is developing a rapidly expanding range of products and services.

The current product line includes several types of proteases, carbohydrases, amylases, cellulases, and lipases. It specialized in creating custom-made enzyme blends to meet the needs of its individual customers. Advanced Biochemicals has been manufacturing and exporting Cellulase Enzyme for past nine years. It is now manufacture about 1000 MT/year of Cellulase Enzyme and export most of it abroad to several markets - USA, Japan, Korea, China, South Africa, Europe, Turkey, South Asia, etc.

Advanced Biochemicals, one of the major producers of industrial enzymes in India, has carried forth the tradition of an entrepreneurial spirit since 1990. Its extensive biotech experience has led to the development of hundreds of unique enzyme solutions addressing the needs of customers in 25 sectors i.e. from healthcare to starch processing and breweries and distilleries to textiles and over 30 countries. Its team of 180 people is working in pursuit of delivering good service and quality products.

Headquartered in Mumbai, it has a manufacturing plant at Nasik. It has a sister concern, set up in 1985, called Specialty Enzymes and
Biochemicals Co. with a head office and production facility at Chino, CA, USA.

Advanced Biochemicals sees a lot of opportunity in Asia Pacific region specifically in China for its enzymes and set up an office there. It has appointed an agent to study the various options such as setting up manufacturing facility, dealership and tie-ups. Based on the outcome of the study it will enter the market. The new office in China will allow help the company to serve its existing and new clients in Asia.
