Speaking at the second day of first year anniversary celebrations of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) on March 22, 2013 at New Delhi, Dr K VijayRaghavan who is also the chairman of BIRAC, highlighted the importance of hearing different voices across the industry, academia and public for a reasonable policy making. He especially talked about the industry captains voicing their concerns and the steps being taken by the DBT to establish a sound feedback mechanism in the biotech sector.

"We are putting in resources in this direction. Discussions are on with the planning commission to put investments on a quality feedback system for agriculture and clinical trials in place. Since there two areas are mostly under scrutiny, we need to have a credible system trusted by all", added the DBT secretary who took over the reigns of premier biotech agency recently.

Dr VijayRaghavan also emphasized firmly on the evidence based regulation. "Real and imaginary concerns need to be addressed with total neutrality", he was quick to add.
