DBT seeks participation from biotech companies to train students
The department of biotechnology (DBT) has invited requisitions from the companies interested in providing the six months practical industrial training the students of bioinformatics.
Under the Bioinformatics Industrial Training Programme (BIITP) of DBT implemented by the Biotech Consortium of India (BCIL), companies would have no obligation towards any payments to the trainees.
However, the bioinformatics firms would be paid bench fee to cover the expenses towards the training. As per BIRAC, the companies would find it to be an effective mechanism to select suitable prospective manpower.
The objective is to provide the industrial exposure to bioinformatics students to improve their job prospects. The stipend paid to the selected trainees from the BIRAC side is Rs 10,000.
The final list of selected candidates will be made public by January 23, 2015 and the training shall commence from February onwards.
