Govt creating regional science incubation hubs for inventors: S&T minister
Step well taken-Innovation hubs for science could encourage more entrepreneurs!
The National Council for Science and Technology Communication of the Department of Science and Technology has taken concerted efforts to set Up Regional Incubation Science Hubs for Inventors (RISHI) throughout the country for the purpose of fostering children's dreams and passions for science and technology.
As per the information given by the minister of science and technology, Dr Harsh Vardhan recently in parliament, "Talented students are encouraged to pursue potential ideas over a three week internship programme in one of these centers." He elaborated further saying, "Recently under RISHI, support was provided to Tezpur University, Assam; Gujarat Science City, Gujarat; GB Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment & Development, Almora, Uttarakhand and Pushpa Gujaral Science City, Kapurthala, Punjab.
The S&T minister stated that National Innovation Foundation- India (NIF), an autonomous body of the Department of Science and Technology also organizes an annual national level competition of students' ideas and innovations called IGNITE where school students up to class 12th and school drop-outs up to the age of 17 years can participate.
