Bureau Veritas becomes the first Product Testing Laboratory in India to achieve LEED Gold Certification
Bureau Veritas recently became the first Product Testing Laboratory in India to be certified as LEED Gold by the United States Green Building Council. It is a global leader in testing, inspection and certification services. It is a prestigious award for the company and especially for the Noida office, being both the India headquarters for the Consumer Products Services division of Bureau Veritas as well as a major laboratory addressing multiple consumer products being sold to markets worldwide.
Its broad range of services include testing, audit, inspection & training services for the textile, apparel, leather & footwear, toy, furniture, electrical & electronic appliance and food product markets.
LEED is the "defacto" standard for green buildings, developed and administered by the USGBC. The USGBC's core purpose is to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling a socially responsible, healthy and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System addresses sustainable design criteria under six main categories: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, as well as, innovation in design.
Paromita Roy, Country Chief Executive at Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services in India said, "As a global leader in supply chain quality, safety and sustainability management services, we are delighted to report this major success within our own location. In the spirit of LEED, the enthusiasm and dedication within our team was fantastic, so much so we raised the bar and decided to go for a Gold rating. I must express thanks to the whole team, including Prabhat Srivastava, Senior Manager from the Engineering Department, who was instrumental in driving the project to its successful conclusion."
Bureau Veritas excelled in many of the categories including full marks in the water efficiency category resulting in excess of 40% water savings based on baselines calculated for the tenant spaces (not including irrigation). Also the success was in the use of low-emitting materials such as adhesives and sealants, paints, coatings and flooring systems.
