Karnataka is all set to set-up Nano Park and Nano Incubation center in Bangalore shortly. Inaugurating the seventh annual Bangalore INDIA NANO conference, chief minister Siddarammaiah has said that the state has earmarked 14-acre land on Tumkur Road, Bangalore. "We are expecting permission from central government. Once we get the permission, we are planning to set-up a Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences here," he said.

The chief minister, in his speech, urged scientists to come up with nanotechnology-based solutions for waste management. "A significant spin-off of nanotechnology is development of diagnostic sensors and lab-on-a-chip technology, which may soon become an important part of efforts to improve global health," he added.

Prof. CNR Rao Bangalore India Nano Science Award was also presented today to Mr Shantikumar Nair, dean of Research, Amrita University and director of Amrita Centre for Nanosciences, Kochi.

The event is organized by the Department of IT, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka under the guidance of Vision Group on Nanotechnology and Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR). The event is aimed at giving fillip to the growth of Nanotech Industry in the country.

The event will enable Nanotech Experts, Scientists, Researchers, Industry and Start-Ups to meet and exchange notes on tomorrow's Nanotechnology. This annual Event will be a congregation of Academia, Research and Industry featuring Inspiring Talks, High Quality Research Papers and a platform to showcase innovative & ground breaking nano-applications. Twelve countries are participating in the two-day event, including the USA, the UK, Germany, Japan and China.

The Conference will focus on the integrated roles of Technologies, Applications and Market for successful commercialization of Nanotechnology. Efforts are being put to bring together a wide range of outstanding Speakers from the Scientific Fraternity, Industry, Government, R&D Labs and Investors from India and Overseas for powerful discussions and deliberations.
