Telangana to establish India's first Green Pharma focused Applied AI Centre of Excellence

The Government of Telangana, in collaboration with Microsoft India 1M1B (1 Million for 1 Billion) and MeitY Startup Hub, has announced the establishment of India's first Green Skills & Applied AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) dedicated to Green Pharma.

The initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening Telangana's position as a global hub for sustainable life sciences manufacturing while building a future-ready talent ecosystem.

Expected to become operational by August 2026, the Centre will focus on equipping youth with industry-relevant skills in Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI), sustainable manufacturing and emerging technologies. The initiative aligns with the Telangana Next-Generation Life Sciences Policy 2026–30, which places strong emphasis on sustainability, advanced technologies and workforce development to drive the next phase of growth in the state's life sciences sector.

The roadmap for the Centre was presented to ITEC and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu Duddilla at Telangana State Secretariat. The meeting was attended by Microsoft India Development Centre President and Managing Director Rajiv Kumar, Microsoft Senior Director (Elevate-CSR) Manju D., 1M1B (1 Million for 1 Billion) Founder and CEO Manav Subodh, Director - Sustainability & Government Advocacy Deepika Venkatesh, IT Advisor Sai Krishna, Telangana Life Sciences CEO Sarvesh Singh, and other senior government officials.

The Centre is expected to play a key role in supporting Telangana's goal of creating over five lakh jobs across the life sciences ecosystem by developing an AI-enabled workforce equipped to meet the evolving needs of the pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing industries.
