In a historic step towards strengthening Indo-French cooperation in the field of healthcare and emerging technologies, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, J.P. Nadda inaugurated the Indo-French Centre for AI in Health (IF-CAIH) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
The Indo-French Centre for AI in Health (IF-CAIH) is a pioneering initiative that aims to address complex healthcare challenges by encouraging artificial intelligence (AI)-based research, medical education, and clinical innovation. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the Indo-French collaboration in the field of digital health and reinforces India's vision to provide global leadership in equitable and technology-enabled health solutions.
IF-CAIH has been established under a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the AIIMS, New Delhi and the Sorbonne University and the Paris Brain Institute.
The initiative is also supported by academic support from premier institutions of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and France. This collaboration is a significant step towards promoting interdisciplinary research in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Brain Health, and Global Health Systems.
This initiative builds on the ongoing institutional cooperation between India and France in priority areas such as digital health, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), human resources in the health sector and responsible use of health data. The collaborative efforts between research institutions and digital health organisations of both countries aim to encourage scientific discovery, strengthen evidence-based policymaking, and foster capacity building and academic exchange partnerships.
