Fostering health data interoperability and scalable digital health adoption

The World Economic Forum has launched a new India Digital Health Activator, a first-of-its-kind initiative to accelerate public-private collaboration in digital health.

The India Digital Health Activator, a key initiative under the Forum’s Global Digital Health Transformation (DHT) programme, aims to drive systemic change in India’s healthcare ecosystem by fostering health data interoperability, scalable digital health adoption, and innovative public-private partnerships.

The announcement was made at The Transforming Healthcare with IT (THIT) Conference 2025 (a part of the 12th International Health Dialogue -IHD 2025) conference organised by Apollo Hospitals in New Delhi, on 21 and 22 February.

Key Highlights of the Activator include- Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration: Engaging leaders from government, healthcare, technology, and civil society to co-develop digital health solutions; Regional Hubs Approach: Establishing multiple hubs to pilot and scale digital health innovations; and Alignment with National Strategy: Supporting the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) to enhance India’s digital health ecosystem.

Shyam Bishen, Head, Centre for Health and Healthcare, World Economic Forum, stated "India is at a pivotal moment in digital health transformation, and the India Digital Health Activator will serve as a collaborative engine to accelerate adoption, drive interoperability, and enable global knowledge-sharing. This initiative will bring together key public and private sector players to create scalable and impactful solutions."
