Products launched at the Biopharma Summit 2026 in Hyderabad

At the recently held Biopharma Summit 2026 in Hyderabad, Thermo Fisher unveiled innovative products for the Indian researchers and scientific community. A highlight of the day was the launch of the Thermo Scientific™ Orbitrap™ Excedion™ mass spectrometer, marking an exciting step forward in next-generation biotherapeutic characterisation.

Powered by industry-leading high-resolution accurate-mass (HRAM) technology, the Orbitrap Excedion is designed to help scientists tackle increasingly complex modalities and generate deeper insights, supporting confident decisions across the biopharma development journey.

Another highlight was the launch of the Thermo Scientific™ Vanquish™ Amplify UHPLC system, alongside the new Thermo Scientific™ SurePac™ Oligo RP MDi™ and SurePac™ Protein RP MDi™ columns, designed to bring greater confidence and performance to complex biopharma workflows.

During an exclusive interaction with selected media, Srinath Venkatesh, Managing Director, India and South Asia, Thermo Fisher Scientific said, “These products have already been launched globally, and now we are bringing them to India in response to customer needs. As the industry moves towards large molecules, there is a great deal of work happening on complex therapeutics, especially oligonucleotides, peptides, proteins, and other complex biologics. The Excedion is specifically designed for those applications.”

“Our focus is not just on launching the product, but also on ensuring customers receive the training they need, including data interpretation and data analysis. This summit is about demonstrating how data generated by these instruments is analysed, and we will continue doing that through smaller training sessions with scientists so that we can provide access to all of them”, he further said.

Sharing his thoughts on the objective behind organising the Biopharma Summit, Venkatesh said, “This is the second in the series. Last year, we organised what we called the Orbitrap Summit. This year, we have expanded it into the BioPharma Summit. Last year it was held in Bengaluru. This year it is in Hyderabad. Based on how we see it today, this is going to become an annual feature.

Tony Acciarito, President, APMEA, Thermo Fisher Scientific said “The feedback from customers last year was very positive. That's why the team believes this is a great forum to continue building on. As we learn more about what works and what doesn't, we will continue to refine and expand it.”

The Biopharma Summit 2026 also included a detailed tour of the company’s Customer Experience Centre (CEC), at the Genome Valley in Hyderabad. With a combined investment of Rs 85-90 crore in CEC and the Bioprocess Design Centre (BDC), in Hyderabad’s Genome Valley, Thermo Fisher is building on its investments and growing presence in India.

“The Customer Experience Centre and the Bioprocess Design Centre were established in response to what our customers asked for. Our customers and stakeholders clearly told us they wanted access to world-class technology here in India so that researchers could experience it firsthand. They also wanted a partner they could co-create with. Customers also asked us to help solve challenges around productivity and time to market. I think our differentiation lies in responding directly to what our customers are asking us to do. From a talent perspective, we have built partnerships with many of the country's leading academic institutions. Our objective is to integrate all of these into an ecosystem where we can help develop the new talent the industry requires and ensure they acquire these skills”, said Venkatesh.

Tony Acciarito further mentioned, “The day we stop listening to our customers and start focusing on being better than our competition is the day we will fail. If our competitors are building similar capabilities, then congratulations to them. More capability on the ground is a positive outcome, regardless of who provides it. For us, the priority is staying very close to our customers.”
