After creating a significant foothold in the health business, ACKO, the tech-first insurer, has acquired Bengaluru-based digital chronic care management startup OneCare, to take another step towards creating a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem.
The acquisition, in an undisclosed all-cash transaction, is a strategic move to re-emphasise ACKO’s broader vision of being a comprehensive healthcare provider to its customers, going beyond the insurance services.
With this move, Dr Rakesh Shivran and Sagar Bhat, co-founders of OneCare, will also be joining the leadership team of ACKO, bringing in their substantial learning and experience in building large scale health-tech services to enhance the -care offerings of the company.
ACKO, with a tech-first approach, has been at the forefront of addressing consumers' healthcare needs since the launch of its health insurance business.
On the other hand, OneCare has developed a unique omnichannel care model that combines advanced wearables, data-driven insights, and the accessibility of both physical clinics and virtual care teams. OneCare’s vision of creating a tech-enabled healthcare ecosystem to cater to its customers is seamlessly aligned with the ethos of ACKO.
The acquisition is a key component of ACKO's strategy to build a healthcare ecosystem that addresses all aspects of a customer's health insurance needs, from protection to prevention to care and recovery.
