In a significant stride towards transforming mental healthcare in India, Sukoon Health, which opened India’s first NABH inpatient psychiatry hospital in Delhi, has announced the launch of its first state-of-the-art mental health facility in Bengaluru. The launch of the Bengaluru hospital is its fourth hospital unit and reinforces its mission to enhance mental health and de-addiction care across India.

The inauguration of the facility was graced by the presence of Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of Karnataka.

Leading Bengaluru Psychiatrist, Dr Satish Ramaiah, serves as the Executive Director of Psychiatric Services and the Centre Head. Dr Ramaiah has contributed significantly to the field through his research in addiction, learning disabilities, and sleep disorders, with his findings published in esteemed medical journals. 

According to a detailed study by The Lancet on "The Global Burden of Disease Study 1990-2017," Karnataka reports a prevalence of 3,500 cases per 100,000 population across various mental health conditions  (without making a distinction for severity), highlighting the urgent need for enhanced mental healthcare infrastructure. 

Amplifying their mission is a recent survey conducted by Sukoon Health, which illuminates the evolving perceptions and growing awareness of mental health care in India. With 70% of respondents acknowledging the criticality of diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, a societal shift is evident.
