Freudenberg Medical, a US-based contract manufacturer of medical device components and biopharma tubing has recently stepped into India with its range of high-quality fluid handling products. Freudenberg has been manufacturing high purity tubing since 1989 from two dedicated operations in the United States and Europe. To find out more about the company’s offerings for the Indian market, BioSpectrum spoke to Falgun Jani, Head of Sales, India, Freudenberg Medical, Mumbai.
Freudenberg Medical formally steps into India with its range of high-quality fluid handling products. What are the products and how are they unique?
Currently Freudenberg Medical manufactures two brands of silicone tubing for the biopharma market - the PharmaFocus Premium brand of silicone tubing which is extractables tested with a full validation package, perfect for demanding biopharmaceutical applications with standard, braid reinforced, and peristaltic pump tubing. We also manufacture the HelixMark brand of fluid handling products for medical device and pharmaceutical applications. This product line is available off the shelf in a wide array of product types and sizes, including a choice of silicone raw material from all the major manufacturers. Freudenberg Medical is planning to introduce several new products in 2022 focused in the fluid handling space for biopharma, these include extensions of our current PharmaFocus product line plus a new product line. How do you plan to provide the best and the safest tubing solutions to ensure a secure supply chain for customers?
Freudenberg Medical designs, develops, and manufactures products for medical device and pharmaceutical companies from 11 locations worldwide. With the explosive growth in global biologics production, which includes vaccines and cell and gene therapy, Freudenberg is able to support customers worldwide from two like for like manufacturing sites outfitted with the same top of the line manufacturing equipment, software, and quality systems.
What made you enter the Indian market now? Are there any challenges for the pharma sector that you are trying to address in the country?
For the past few years, Freudenberg Medical has been serving Biopharma customers directly and with the help of a few distributors in India, supplying standard and custom silicone tubing from our dedicated manufacturing sites in Germany and the US. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Freudenberg saw a surge in demand for silicone tubing and single-use custom assemblies. One of the major challenges for the Pharma Industry is about sustainability and security of supply of critical components and ingredients required to manufacture life-saving drugs and vaccines. We will further nourish & scale up our strategy to offer various products and technology solutions through our dedicated manufacturing and R&D sites.
