DART Conference: Current Therapeutics and Interventions in Muscular Dystrophy

The conference will be held on the 23rd and 24th of February, 2018 at The Chancery Pavilion, Bengaluru.

Dystrophy Annihilation Research Trust (DART) is a parent-powered NGO founded in 2012,  with a mission to create a common platform to provide counseling and support for all Muscular Dystrophy patients and their families, as well as to create awareness of Treatments and Drug Trials, and last but not least, facilitate research into alleviating the scourge of Muscular Dystrophy. DART is unique in its nature as a parent run Ministry of Science and Technology Govt. of India DSIR certified research lab.

The Muscular Dystrophies are a group of genetic diseases characterized by progressive weakness and degeneration of the skeletal or voluntary muscles which control movement. The most prevalent and fatal form is Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) which is caused due to a lack of a protein called ‘Dystrophin”. The Disease affects only boys but girls are carriers. One out of 3500 boys is affected and there are around 4,50,000 children suffering from this terrible disease.

The conference will attract over 300 delegates including Academicians, Patients, Caregivers, Patient Advocacy Organisations, Clinicians and Industry professionals from all over the world who will have the platform to:

  • Network with partners on key issues and challenges in DMD
  • Engage with panels of international experts who will inform, challenge and stimulate debate
  • Acquire the latest updates on standards of care, outcome measures, patient registries and new developments on a global scale
