Now Investigators not permitted more than 3 trials at a time

The ministry of health and family welfare, government of India has constituted an expert commitee under the chairmanship of Prof. Ranjit Roy Chaudhury to formulate policy and guidelines for approval of new drugs, clinical trials and banning of drugs. The expert commitee submitted its report with recommendations to the ministry. Subsequently, the ministry decided on the action points.

The implementation of the report's suggestions include taking in to account the nature of clinical trials and facilities by an investigator for the number of trials conducted by him/her. The order clearly says that under any circumstances, the number of trials shall not exceed three at a time.

The order shall be binding on the sponsors and and clinical trial applicants for ensuring that trials are limited to three in all scenarios.
