Department of Biotechnology

The Department of Biotechnology at Kumaun University was established in 2000, through the support of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, has developed as an important academic center of Uttarakhand.  The activities of the department are focused on quality teaching program at MSc and PhD level including the execution of major research projects in selected areas. Present intake at MSc is 20 and the admissions are based on the all India entrance examination conducted by JNU, New Delhi.
The course work is completed in three semesters and in the fourth semester, students work on their theses as a partial requirement for completion of the MSc degree. The department has also signed MOUs with most of the ICAR and CSIR institutes of the region for networking projects, use of each others lab facilities and registering their research fellows for PhD.
