Indian farmers to learn technical know how from Malaysia
The orientation meeting of farmers on April 13, 2013
An orientation meeting was organized for farmers' delegation visit to Malaysia during April 14-23, 2013 under the farmers exchange program between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states and India at National Agricultural Science Complex (NASC), New Delhi on April 13, 2013
Dr K D Kokate, deputy director general (DDG) (Agricultural Extension), ICAR inaugurated the meeting and briefed the gathering about the ASEAN-India Farmers Exchange Programme. He also informed that first event under ASEAN-India farmers exchange programme was successfully conducted during December 19-30, 2012 in India. In this visit, 18 farmers from nine ASEAN member states visited various ICAR institutes, state agriculture universities, KVKs and farmer's field. Dr Kokate hoped that orientation meeting will help the farmers to prepare themselves in learning about various technologies and the best agricultural practices across the ASEAN countries.
Dr A M Narula, ZPD, Zone-1, Ludhiana will lead the delegation in this 10-day visit. The delegation will visit farmers' agricultural projects and various historical places in Malaysia. The delegation comprises 18 farmers from 17 states.
Dr V Venkatasubramanian, ADG (Agricultural Extension), Dr Y R Meena, additional commissioner (Extension) , Department of Agriculture and Cooperation (DAC), Dr V P Chahal, principal scientist, Agricultural Extension and Dr P Adhiguru, principal scientist, Agricultural Extension, ICAR were also present on the occasion.
