The winners of the various awards to be given away by the Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE), will be announced by the end of February and will receive the awards on March 11 at a function to be held in New Delhi. These various important players of the biotechnology industry are expected to get awarded for their outstanding contributions to the growth and development of this sector in India over the period of ten year period from 2002 to 2012.

As per the statement from ABLE, there will be ten awards to be given in six categories. In the first category for private companies there are four awards, one each in biopharma, bioagriculture, bioservices and bndustrial sectors. In the two public sector categories, there will be an award for a central government department for having provided leadership and enabling policies for biotech research and support to the biotech industry. Another award in this category, will be for a state that provided the best leadership and support to the biotech Industry.

In the financial category, two awards - for VC/PE companies that provided financial support to life science companies at various stages of their growth. Under the education category, the award will be presented to college or universities imparting a high quality life sciences education The last category award for park/incubator, will be for providing facilities for biotech companies especially the start-ups.
