Oxbridge College of Science and Commerce, which comes under
the umbrella of Oxbridge Group of Institutions, was established in the
year 1998. Affiliated to the Bangalore University, the
college is recognized by the Government of Karnataka.
The institute started BSc course in biotechnology in 2002 and MSc in
2006. For admission in MSc in biotechnology, a candidate must
have passed BSc degree with a minimum of 50 percent of marks in all the
three optionals in aggregate. The applicant should have studied
chemistry or biochemistry as a compulsory subject along with other
science subjects like biotechnology, environmental science, zoology/
applied zoology, botany/ applied botany, sericulture, life science/
biological science, to list a few. Duration of the course is two years
which is divided into four semesters. Student intake in both the
courses i.e., BSc and MSc is 30 each.
The college possess well-equipped laboratories in each department. Each
student is provided with the necessary equipment for individual
experimentation in the practical classes. The library has nearly 5,000
text books and reference books. It also has subscription to 12
magazines, 17 scientific journals and periodicals of both national and
international repute.
