A rapid test for the qualitative detection and differentiation of five common carbapenemase enzymes

Mumbai-based HiMedia – HiGenoMB has received approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) for importing NG-Test CARBA 5 kit from NG Biotech, a France based company.

HiMedia – HiGenoMB in joint collaboration with NG Biotech are making this rapid kit available to Indian market. The kit is a rapid test for the qualitative detection and differentiation of five common carbapenemase enzymes (KPC (K), OXA-48-like (O), IMP (I), VIM (V), NDM (N)) in bacterial colonies.

These carbapenemases producing bacteria are mainly detected in hospital settings and are responsible for most of the nosocomial infections, raising major global health problems since their presence can be difficult to detect. The kit is easy to use, portable, and requires minimal training to operate, making it especially useful in resource-constrained settings where diagnostic facilities are limited.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rajas Warke, Director (Molecular Biology) of HiMedia Labs said, "It is a rapid test that aids in early detection of AMR bacteria, which is a global public health concern. This kit will play a crucial role in helping healthcare providers to diagnose and treat patients quickly & accurately, ultimately improving patient outcomes."

The NG-Test CARBA 5 kit is a result of HiMedia Labs expertise in the field of molecular diagnostics and commitment to providing the latest in diagnostic testing solutions. This approval from CDSCO is a testament to their strong reputation and credibility as a reliable provider of high-quality diagnostic products.
