Pharmexcil Chennai Programme focuses on 'Quality Compliance and Patient Safety'

The Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) is gearing up to address the critical issues of 'Quality Compliance and Patient Safety' within the pharmaceutical industry during its upcoming capacity-building programme. Scheduled for November 17th next month, the event will be held at the Savera Hotel in Mylapore, Chennai.

Pharmexcil, under the guidance of its Director General, Ravi Uday Bhaskar, is taking proactive steps to tackle the regulatory compliance challenges faced by Indian pharmaceutical exporters in international markets.

This timely programme aims to foster awareness and understanding among industry stakeholders on key subjects, including international regulatory standards, regulatory expectations for quality compliance, the proposed revision of Schedule-M, effective implementation of Quality Management Systems, the significance of excipient quality and its development in medicines, and excipient sourcing supplier verification and risk management.

The council has enlisted a panel of distinguished experts to delve into these vital topics, including Dr S.V. Veeramani, Chairman of Pharmexcil, J. Jayaseelan, Chairman of Indian Drugs Manufacturers Association (IDMA), Tamil Nadu Puducherry Kerala State Board (TNPKSB); Dr K.N. Srinivasan,Deputy Drug Controller (India) or DDC(I), Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), South Zone, and Dr M.N. Sridhar, Joint Director of Drug Control Authority, Tamil Nadu.

Pharmexcil's Director General emphasised that this programme is a part of the organisation's ongoing commitment to promoting 'Importance of Quality Compliance & Patient Safety – Industry Practices & Regulatory Expectations' among Indian pharmaceutical players. Similar programmes have been successfully conducted in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Chandigarh recently. The core objective is to nurture a culture of quality and enhance understanding of regulatory standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality, and safety norms within the industry. Plans are underway to host similar programs in India's top ten pharmaceutical hub cities.

The programme is open to participants from the pharmaceutical sector, and online registration is available until November 10th. Pharmexcil's proactive approach in addressing these issues highlights its dedication to ensuring the quality and safety of pharmaceutical products, reinforcing India's position in the global pharmaceutical market.
