The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has issued a call for applications for its Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) programme targeted at PhD holders. This initiative, known as the 'ICMR Centenary-Post Doctoral Fellowship', aims to provide a platform for researchers to delve into cutting-edge biomedical health research.

According to the official notification released by the ICMR, the organisation is inviting applications from Indian Nationals who hold a PhD degree and are keen on advancing research in biomedical health. The application window for the December 2023 batch is open from January 1, 2024, to January 31, 2024.

Applicants interested in participating in the ICMR's post doctoral programme are required to have completed their PhD degrees in the field of biomedical health research. This encompasses fundamental research in areas such as disease biology, epidemiology, diagnostic development, drug delivery, new generation therapeutics, vaccines, and alternative systems of medicine. The focus areas also extend to communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as reproductive and child health, including nutrition.

Dr Rajiv Bahl, Secretary DHR and Director General ICMR, emphasised that the fellowship is open to both fresh PhD holders and those who have already received their provisional degrees. Even individuals whose PhD degrees are awarded on the last date of application submission are eligible to apply.

Applicants are advised to complete their applications meticulously, ensuring all relevant columns are filled with necessary enclosures adhering to ICMR guidelines.
