Vani Manja, former Country Managing Director (MD) for India at Germany headquartered biopharmaceutical firm Boehringer Ingelheim (BI), has moved to a new role- as the Managing Director for the company's UK and Ireland business and Head of Human Pharma.

Until her successor is announced at Boehringer Ingelheim India, Sandip Agrawal, Director – Finance and  Administration has taken on the additional responsibility of Interim Managing Director.

"I carry a wide range of learnings from the India healthcare environment and the BI India organisation, especially from the diverse interactions with some very interesting and inspiring people in the industry, healthcare community and the media fraternity. India continues to be a fascinating market that I look to learn from in the future as well, though for now from the outside", said Vani.

Vani was appointed the Country Managing Director for India, on January 1, 2021. In this role, she assumed responsibility for the company’s businesses in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

She was formerly the Global Head of Boehringer Ingelheim’s Go-To-Market and Business Steering organisation, based in the company’s headquarters in Germany. She joined Boehringer Ingelheim in the US in 2011, working across Strategy & Operations, Marketing and Sales leadership roles before moving to Ingelheim in 2016 as Regional Business Manager for Japan. Her global experience in healthcare spans nearly two decades across McKinsey & Company, Becton Dickinson and Boehringer Ingelheim, and is characterised by strong global mobility and cross-functional leadership assignments across healthcare and management consulting.
