ICMR appoints new director for NIMS

National Institute of Medical Statistics (NIMS), New Delhi under Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), has appointed Mendu Vishnu Vardhana Rao, Sr. Grade Deputy Director & Biostatistician from National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Hyderabad as the new Director.

Rao is well-known in the field of biostatistics, computational biology and nutrition. He was a student of Osmania University, Hyderabad where he has completed his M.Sc and Ph.D. (Statistics) and also obtained M.Tech (IT) degree.

As the Director of NIMS, he will be responsible for spearheading research in the field of Medical Statistics that could be used in formulating National Policies towards achieving the government targets in the area of health and nutrition.

With 26 years of experience at NIN, the premier & oldest Institute under the ICMR, Vishnu Vardhan is confident to expand the role and sharpen the focus of the Institute. NIMS has been without a full fledged Director for close to a year now.
