Punjab Govt. to open health and wellness centres

State Government also unveiled plan to roll out 50 new ambulances, which will be equipped with critical life-saving equipment.

Punjab Government has decided to open health wellness centres in different parts of the State. Punjab Health Minister Brahm Mohindra has stated that a total of 2,950 such centres will be opened across the state in a phased manner. The operational cost to run each centre would be around Rs 17 lakhs, where doctors would be the visiting faculty from nearby community health centres.

To ensure punctuality and sense of responsibility of medical officers towards patients, State Government has decided to install biometric attendance system in all government hospitals. Medicine shops would be opened at 22 district hospitals while five trauma centres would also be established.

State Government also unveiled plan to roll out 50 new ambulances, which will be equipped with critical life-saving equipment. The State Government has already established e-raktkosh in all 45 government blood banks which is one of its kinds within the country. Public can access information on blood availability status as per blood group, blood bank and districts with the help of e-raktkosh.
