Medical simulation start-up Mimyk, a spin-off from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and incubated at the Society for Innovation and Development (SID), has bagged the Start JLM Delhi competition.

With this, the start-up presented and co-founded by Shanthanu Chakravarthy, will head to Start JLM Jerusalem competition to take part in a week-long innovation boost camp for early stage start-ups.

The competition was organised by the Embassy of Israel with the support of the Department of Science and Technology (Union government), TiE and YES Bank.

Mimyk works on combining haptics, design, virtual reality (VR), and internet-based content delivery model for training healthcare practitioners with interactive medical simulations. Virtual Reality (VR), together with haptics, offers a flexible and cost-effective method for training doctors in endoscopy procedures.

The current focus at Mimyk is an affordable and immersive endoscopy training device. The team associates with IISc research labs from where the core technology was conceived. In addition, Mimyk and the four other finalists in the competition have been awarded access to start-up incubators in India by the DST in association with the Zone Incubator.
