The Government of Maharashtra has expanded its Mahadialysis programme by opening the 60th dialysis centre at the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Dharni, Amravati. The Mahadialysis programme, designed to provide comprehensive dialysis services free of charge to all state residents, is expected to significantly ease the financial burden on patients in Dharni and neighbouring areas.
This expansion marks an important step in bringing affordable and essential medical care to one of Maharashtra’s most remote and underserved areas. It also demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing affordable healthcare to all, reaching rural communities, reducing health disparities, and improving the lives of those who need it most.
The government operates the dialysis centre with support from HLL Lifecare Limited, a Mini Ratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The facility at SDH Dharni is equipped with all essential medical infrastructure to ensure smooth and efficient operations, along with specialized personnel including a centre-in-charge, dialysis technicians, nurses, and housekeeping staff. A designated medical officer at the hospital oversees the functioning of the dialysis unit and provides consultations to patients as needed. Patients can also have access to a nephrologist appointed under the Mahadialysis program at centres in the Amravati district.
To receive free dialysis under the Mahadialysis program, patients must register at their respective centres in accordance with the established protocols.
