DATRI, one of the largest stem cell donors’ registry in the country along with PSG Hospitals felicitated eight people in Coimbatore who have donated their stem cells in the last three years.

Most of the eight people were working professionals who took time off work without hesitation to donate stem cells to unknown people.

The event, which celebrated the “spirit of giving,” felicitated Anthony Robins, Satheesh Kumar Viswanathan, Kannan, Nandha Kumar, Subramani, Thiyaga Veerakumar, Dhamodharan S and Boopathy Nanjukutty.

Robins also got to meet a seven- year-old boy to whom he had donated his stem cells. The boy was suffering from a rare blood disorder called Pure Red Cell Aplasia. The boy is cured and leads a normal life now.

Raghu Rajagopal, co-founder & CEO of DATRI, said, “46% of the registry is made up of students. Of the 393 donations facilitated by DATRI, about 100 students have donated their blood stem cells to save lives. We are happy to associate with Institutions like PSG-IMSR which have identified the real problem and are ready to support our cause”, he said, reported Times of India.
