World Bank sanctions Rs 2,686 crore to Tamil Nadu Government

In order to upgrade all the government hospitals in the state, The World Bank has agreed to sanction Rs 2,685.91 crore to the Tamil Nadu government.

C Vijaya Baskar, State Health Minister said, “The fund would also be utilised to purchase necessary modern medical equipment and impart training to government doctors.”

“World Bank has agreed to sanction Rs 2,685.91 crore fund. It would be utilised to upgrade all the government hospitals. The health department would purchase the required modern medical equipment. The fund would also be utilized to impart training to government doctors”, he added.

The minister also said, “Tamil Nadu leads other states in the country in the field of organ transplantation. After Chennai, the process has been started in Madurai and Tirunelveli government hospitals too, and very soon it would be inaugurated at all the government hospitals across the state. A total number of 5,933 organs has successfully been transplanted to 1,056 patients in the state. This was also a great achievement of Tamil Nadu.”
